On December 20th, the Ministry of Defence awarded medals to honour soldiers showing extraordinary dedication and acts of bravery when Denmark evacuated military and civilian personnel from Kabul earlier this year.

A Hercules crew of four received the Distinguished Flying Medal, which is the highest decoration that can be awarded for flying service. The medal is only rarely awarded.

Five other soldiers received the Medal of the Ministry of Defence. This medal was instituted in 2009 and awarded for meritable actions.

The medals were awarded at the Ministry of Defence by the Chief of the General Staff.
