French diploma and medal from the war
Several OMSD members showed artifacts from their collections, accompanied by short presentations: orders, medals, diplomas, photos, postcards etc. Especially a story about a French family who lost two sons in the war
resonated with the audience.
Besides French military and civilian decorations, objects from Great Britain were also presented, together with stories of Danes in British and Canadian service, one of them being Thomas Dinesen, VC.
There was a short story about Danish captain Stensbæk, who had resided in the Congo Free State and participated in the war on the Belgian side.
We heard about the Danish nurse Cecilie Lütken (an interesting personality) and her decorations.
Finally there was also a fine little collection from Mecklenburg-Strelitz.
