NATO Non-Article 5 Vigilance medal

NATO has instituted a new VIGILANCE bar for the Non-Article 5 medal.
NATO Non-Article 5 Vigilance medal

The newly instituted bar is meant for personnel attached to SACEUR (Supreme Allied Command Europe) operations.


Eligible persons are defined as "Personnel assigned or attached to forces under NATO command or control that are operationally deployed within SACEUR's area of operations" with a start date of 24. February 2022 (no end date is yet defined).


Personnel that has supported operations in various roles (training, education, surveillance and more) are eligible. It requires 30 days of continuous service or 60 days of accumulated service, and the service must have taken place outside of the country the person is normally assigned to.


The Danish Defence estimates that also Danish personnel has supported operations covered by the award criteria.
