Many interesting groups with British decorations were shown at the meeting, including some groups containing Danish, French and other foreign decorations. There were a couple of Naval General Service medals
with bar "Copenhagen 1801" from the Battle of Copenhagen. A very fine Albert medal for life saving during an earthquake in South America in 1877, which resulted in a tsunami, was also shown.
Several groups from the two world wars were presented, some belonging to Danish recipients.
To round it off, there was a selection of decorations awarded during state visits. Many award diplomas and other relevant papers for the British decorations made their way to the meeting from private collections.
Orders and medals are interesting as objects in themselves, but what makes them really exciting, is the story about the individual recipient. The decoration can be a result of a life saving effort, war participation,
intelligence work, humanitarian work and more. The meeting was a great example of this, as it included some very interesting background stories of the various awards.
