On October 8th, 2024, H.M. King Frederik awarded the Order of the Elephant to Iceland's president Halla Tómasdóttir. The ceremony took place at Christian VII's Palace and marked the start of the presidential
couple's state visit to Denmark. The president's spouse Björn Skúlason was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Dannebrog at the same time.
Representatives from the government and the civil service, as well as court officials received - as part of the exchange of decorations - Icelandic orders and medals.

It is worth mentioning, that Iceland could celebrate 80 years as a republic on June 15th this year.
Correction: In the first version of this article, this award was named the first Elephant with King Frederik X's monogram. The first award happened in May 6th, 2024 to Swedish Prince Daniel.
