Order of Dannebrog
Order of the Elephant
Obsolete orders:
Order of the Armed Fist
Order of Fidelity
Order of Queen Caroline Mathilde
Order of King Christian VII
When the Order of Dannebrog was reformed in 1808 (and following the death of Frederik VI in 1839), it was decided that the monogram that connects the cross to the crown should represent the reigning monarch. Thus, following every change of monarch since then, the insignia of the order have been adjusted.
As part of King Frederik X's accession to the throne, a new monogram was designed, and this monogram is now part of the new insignia.
As is tradition, older returned insignia will be re-used with an updated monogram.
It is expected that also the insignia of the Order of the Elephant will be updated (the crowned monogram is painted on the elephant's blanket)
